Impact of the Ukrainian power grid synchronization
The Russian invasion of the Ukraine has far reaching impacts of the security of our energy supply. Besides the problems in oil and gas supply, which are heavily discussed in the media, the invasion also affects the electric power system. On the 16th of March the Ukrainian power grid was synchronized with the Central European grid in an emergency procedure. Does this impair the stability of our power system? Does it lead to more fluctuations and a higher uncertainty? An initial analysis of researchers from the UQ consortium with colleagues from Oslo and London shows that impacts are measurable but limited. See our preprint: https://arxiv.org/abs/2204.07508
